New Membership

ELIGIBILITY DATES: 
MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILTY in the American Legion is based on honorable service with the U. S. Armed Forces between:

• (April 6, 1917 - November 11, 1918) World War I
• (December 7, 1941 - December 31, 1946) World War II
• (June 25, 1950 - January 31, 1955) Korean War
• (February 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975) Vietnam War
• (August 24, 1982 - July 31,1984) Lebanon/Grenada
• (December 20, 1989 - January 31, 1990) Operation Just Cause
• (August 2, 1990 - Today)* Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm

Because eligibility dates remain open, all members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to join The American Legion at this time, until the date of the end of hostilities as determined by the government of the United States.

Membership cost to join the Legion is $45.00.

Eligible veterans applying for first time membership have three options:

Go to https://mylegion.org/PersonifyEbusiness/Home and complete the online membership including the $45.00.  Once completed notify the Adjutant via email: boerneamlegion@gmail.com.

OR

1. Complete American Legion Membership Application.
   Print two (2) completed copies.  Keep one copy for your records. Mail the other copy to Boerne American Legion Post, 215 Bandera Road, Suite 114 - 415, Boerne, TX 78006 together with your dues payment.  
2. Provide a copy of your DD Form 214 discharge. (Note: If you need a copy of your DD Form 214 or other military records you can order online at https://vetrecs.archives.gov/VeteranRequest/home.html#BasicInformation or mail by submitting an SF Form 180 which can be found at https://www.va.gov/find-forms/about-form-sf180/)
3. Pay the membership dues ($45.00). Make checks payable to "American Legion Post 313." DO NOT SEND CASH.

4. If the information is correct, membership will be approved and then a membership card will be mailed to you.

5. OR

1. Attend a General Membership meetings which is held on the Second Monday each month at the Kronkosky Center, 17 Old San Antonio Road, Boerne, TX 78006
2. Complete a Member Data Form - ask the Adjutant for one.
3. Pay the $45 membership fee either by check (payable to "American Legion Post 313") or cash.

Transfers

Veterans applying for transfers from your current Post to our Post have two options:

1. Complete American Legion Membership Application.  Include your membership number.
2. Provide a copy of your DD214 discharge.
3. Membership dues payment, if current year dues are not paid. If current dues are paid, please pay dues for next year's membership.

OR

Complete a Data Member Form and give to the Adjutant.  Be sure to include your member number.
